POSITION SUMMARY
Maritime Academy Charter School, School Building Maintenance will assist with maintaining a sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and the public; performing minor repair maintenance, minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure to the school. Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work are met.

School Building Maintenance work collaboratively with administration and staff for the benefit of all MACS students. Regular and predictable attendance are essential functions of this position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs minor repair maintenance, change light fixtures, change water filters, complete minor HVAC repairs
- Assists with arrivals and dismissal of students, to ensure proper student behavior and safety
- Helps respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns, such as facility damage, alarms, etc. for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintain a functioning physical and educational environment
- Inspects school facility for the purpose of ensuring site is suitable for safe operations and maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and identifies any repairs that may be necessary due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
- Observes and reports needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures building and site
- Assists in the maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete and blacktop surfaces and playgrounds, including pedestrian walkways snow and ice removal
- Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work are met
- Assist with Emergency Drills, monitor safety regulations to adhere to safety standards
- Performs other duties, as needed and as assigned by supervisors

WORKING CONDITIONS :
The working conditions of a School Building Maintenance include:
- Very high levels of social interaction, with daily and consistent work with children and teachers.
- Communicating with people face-to-face on a daily basis, as well as communication through phone and handheld transceiver.
- Working with cleaning solutions and hazardous chemicals.
- Responsibility for the health and safety of the children in their school.
- Working as part of a team of educators.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling crouching, an/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 50% walking and 45% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under some hazardous conditions.
