SCHEDULE:  6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday

 

GRADE LEVELS: High School - 9th through 12th

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Maritime Academy Charter School Custodial Support Staff will assist with maintaining a sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and the public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and other school events; minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure to the school.  Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work are met.

 

MACS has a culture of respect and kindness.  Our Support Staff are expected to exhibit respect and kindness for all staff members, students and families, while maintaining school expectations both behaviorally and academically.  Support Staff work collaboratively with administration and staff for the benefit of all MACS students.  Regular and predictable attendance are essential functions of this position.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The duties of the Custodial Support staff include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Cleans assigned school facility classrooms, cafeteria, offices, gymnasium, restrooms, multi-purpose rooms, grounds, etc. for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive school environment
  • Assists with hallway monitoring and supervising of students in the cafeteria, restrooms, school grounds, and parking lots to ensure proper student behavior and safety
  • Helps respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns, such as facility damage, alarms, etc. for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintain a functioning physical and educational environment
  • Inspects school facility for the purpose of ensuring site is suitable for safe operations and maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and identifies any repairs that may be necessary due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
  • Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash, and sets up for scheduled activities. Washes walls, baseboards, woodwork and windows and cleans and polishes metal surfaces.  Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors.  Wet mops and spot cleans hard and soft surface floors.  Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms
  • Performs minor repair maintenance. Observes and reports needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures building and site
  • Assists in the maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete and blacktop surfaces and playgrounds, including pedestrian walkways snow and ice removal
  • Assists with set ups and tear downs for school activities
  • Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work are met
  • Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other Custodial Support Staff when necessary
  • Performs other duties, as needed and as assigned by supervisors

WORKING CONDITIONS

The working conditions of Custodial Support Staff include:

  • Very high levels of social interaction, with daily and consistent work with children and teachers.
  • Communicating with people face-to-face on a daily basis, as well as communication through phone and handheld transceiver.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling crouching, an/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 50% walking and 45% standing.  The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under some hazardous conditions.
